LOVE AND WAR
A wounded soldier longs for his lady
Whence he shall see her, he knows not
He is stretched out weary from battle
And his heart longs for that smile
That sets his soul ablaze
For that kiss that threatens his very existence
But brings him sweet agony
And for that gentle smile that lights up his path
And brings him to the brink of insanity
The young lady pines for her soldier
When she shall him, she knows not
she sits and gazes unseeingly through her bedroom window
And her heart aches for that love
That turns her ice cold heart to flames of burning fire
For that passion, that leaves her breathless
And for companionship that encompasses her soul
And brightens the dark embers of heart
Two people torn apart by war and bloodshed
Never knowing when they would meet again
But the thought of each other
Brings love and tenderness in their hearts
Which war cannot take away from them
