In Jeremiah's Shoes

My bible reading for today was on Jeremiah14:11-16:15.... I read the passage and this time I visualised Jeremiah in those times prophesying doom and gloom when Israel was still at peace and enjoying prosperity.... In some ways, I could understand why the Israelites could think that Jeremiah was insane because the land was enjoying prosperity and all was fine and dandy.. The Israelites were living in the realm of the physical while Jeremiah was hooked onto the supernatural.

I can't imagine how Jeremiah felt- his people wanted him dead, the land was living in prosperity but God had given him a message on doom and destruction for Israel and Judah beacause they had forsaken the Lord and had turned to the worship of idols. Jeremiah obeyed the voice and was content to be ridiculed, scorned and hated by his people in order to be right with God... That takes great courage and an overwhelming love and reverent fear of God to be able to stand up for Jesus when it seems you are the only one on the Lord's side.
